How it works

Input currency. The card at the top holds the input currency. Type an amount or a whole expression such as 120 × 2 + 15; Enter evaluates it.

Main currency. Tap any currency to make it the input — the amount is rebased, so the numbers do not jump, and your list keeps its order. The ▾ next to the main currency picks the next one from your list. With “Auto-switch main currency” turned off, a tapped currency is edited in place and the main one stays put.

Quick amounts. The chips on the input card set 1, 10, 100, 1k or 5k, scaled to the currency.

Charts. The chevron on a currency opens the rate chart with 1W, 1M, 1Y and 5Y ranges, the low, the high, the inverse rate and a day-by-day or month-by-month history.

Currencies and crypto. Search all 164 currencies and 20 cryptocurrencies by code, name or country. Currencies and Crypto keep separate lists; on Crypto every coin also shows its price in US dollars.

Apple Watch and Mac. The watch app keeps your list on the wrist, converts with its own keypad and opens any pair with its chart and history. The Mac app shows the list and the pair side by side.

Appearance. Light, dark or system theme, six accent colours and the language — in Settings on iPhone, iPad and Mac, behind the sun/moon button on the web.

Rates and offline use

Currency rates are mid-market reference values from central banks (the European Central Bank and others, via Frankfurter), published once per trading day; crypto prices come from Coinbase and change around the clock. The apps refresh every minute while open. The status line shows when the rates were last updated; with no connection the last rates stay usable and it reads “Offline”.

Rates are for information only and need not match the rate offered by any bank or exchange.
